Cancelling your 1&1 contract: Pay attention to the cancellation terms and deadlines.

Thanks to the new Telecommunications Act, which came into force on December 1, 2021, the cancellation process is now significantly more consumer-friendly: With shorter notice periods, you can get out of your contract faster than ever before. These periods depend on the tariff plan you're using. For 1&1, this means it depends on whether you have a mobile phone contract with or without a fixed term.

 

  • Fixed-term contracts: 1&1's fixed-term contracts typically have a minimum term of 24 months. If you signed your contract after December 1, 2021, you can cancel it with just one month's notice before the end of the term. If your contract with 1&1 has been in place for longer, the standard three-month notice period before the end of the contract still applies. Another new feature: If you don't cancel in time, you can cancel your contract monthly after automatic renewal. This means you're not bound to your provider for another whole year and have the opportunity to cancel every month. If you don't know when your mobile contract ends, you can check it online in the 1&1 Control Center. Your cancellation period is also listed there.
  • Contracts without a fixed term: If you have a contract without a minimum term, you can cancel it with 14 days' notice to the end of the month. So it's not a problem if you happen to miss the cancellation deadline, as you'll have another chance the following month. Contract extension or tariff change – the alternatives to cancellation at 1&1

If you're completely satisfied with 1&1's network quality and service, but your current contract no longer suits your needs, then you should consider extending your contract or changing your tariff. You can make all changes to your mobile contract in the 1&1 Control Center. If you log into your customer area via a browser, click on "Change tariff" in the top menu. In the app, select "Tariffs & Accessories" on the home screen to initiate your contract extension or tariff change and secure attractive benefits. Please note, however, that fees may apply.
